Below are some of the most frequently seen autoimmune diseases:
- Grave’s disease
- Hashimoto’s thyroiditis
- Systemic lupus erythematosus (lupus)
- Juvenile onset diabetes, also known as Type 1 diabetes
- Multiple sclerosis (MS)
- Rheumatoid arthritis (RA)
If you or a loved one copes with any of these or other autoimmune issues, you know it can limit your enjoyment of life and can often be scary, painful, and frustrating. As an advanced-practice acupuncturist and RN, I specialize in working with people who have autoimmune challenges.
One method of treatment I find helpful for patients who have an autoimmune condition is electroacupuncture. Electroacupuncture is the use of a very low level of electrical stimulation at specific acupuncture points. It feels like a mild tapping or fluttering sensation across the skin. The treatment is subtle, gentle, and most of my patients fall asleep during electro-acupuncture treatments—an added benefit since your body does many types of repair during rest.
Research has shown, and continues to show, that electroacupuncture
“…is effective for the management and treatment of immune-related diseases, including allergic disorders, infections, autoimmune diseases and immunodeficiency-syndromes.”1
This method has been shown to help relieve symptoms and beneficially regulate your immune system. If you are struggling with flare-ups of an autoimmune nature, I can evaluate your condition to determine if electroacupuncture will help you. I will work with you to make your overall health the best it can be.
